Based out of Goleta, California, I’ve been teaching yoga since I earned my first certification in Vinyasa 1 at age 16, just a few years after I took my very first yoga class. Since then, I've taken every opportunity to learn more about yoga, grow my practice, and earn certifications so that I can become a better student and a better teacher. I initially came to yoga for recovery. I continue to use yoga as an act of radical self-love that helps keep me present and in the moment! When I'm with my students, my goal is to use my knowledge and love of yoga to help others connect with their mind, body, and soul.
I’m eager to connect with you, and I’m glad you’re here.
Love and light,
Micaela
How did you find yoga?
I began my yoga journey when, at 14 years old, my mom and I tried a hot yoga class as a mother-daughter activity. I was instantly hooked, as it inspired a sense of calm, helped me cultivate a better relationship with my mind and body, provided a great stress release outlet and was different than any of the martial arts training or Zumba classes I had been doing up to that point. Yoga soon became so much more than I had ever expected.
What certifications do you hold?
I have my RYT 200 hour Vinyasa certification, Hot Power Fusion certification, and Yoga Sculpt certification, which I received through Hot Yoga Healthy You teacher trainings. I hold Yin Yoga Certification from Yoga International. I also completed a continuing education training for CorePower Yoga.
What styles of yoga do you currently teach?
I currently teach Vinyasa 1, 1.5 and 2, Hot Fusion and Yin Yoga.
What is your favorite thing about yoga?
My favorite thing about yoga is the non-judgment aspect that comes with it. Unlike any other physical sports or activities I’ve done, yoga provides a safe space where there's no competition or judgment. Doing your personal best is all that matters! I also love the mind-body connection that yoga helps cultivate, as it tunes people into what their body is feeing while simultaneously helping them realize their thought patterns. As a result, yogis are able to broaden their perspectives and rewire their thoughts and actions!
What can students expect from your classes?
Students who take my class can expect to have fun in a supportive and accepting environment. Ultimately my goal in class and as a teacher is to share my love and knowledge of yoga with my students so they feel in touch with their own practice and excited about all of the positive benefits yoga brings.
